Q: How big are the bags?
A: To minimize waste, we strive to use every part of the reclaimed fabrics we find. The average finished size for each bag are as follows:
- Fully opened: 25″ H x 17″ W x 7″D
- Handle width: 2″
- Handle drop: 11″
- Folded: 7″H x 5″W x 1.5″ D (folded size varies depending on thickness of the bag’s fabric)
Q: How sturdy are they? How much will they carry?
A: All Tote2Go! bags are made with durability and strength in mind. In our tests, each single-ply tote will carry up to 30 lbs. of groceries — three times as much as a standard plastic bag!
- Every seam is stitched with 4 threads on an overlock / serger sewing machine – the very same stitching you find in most commercially made clothing.
- The bottom corner seams are 4-thread overlock stitched and then a “french seam” is created with an additional line of stitching for the highest level of reinforcement
- The edges of each handle are double rolled hem stitched with two rows of stitching
- The tops of each handle are stitched with a very sturdy box stitch through 4 layers of fabric
Q: Can I toss the bags in my washing machine?
A: Yes! All Tote2Go! Double shoppers have been pre-washed. We suggest that you care for them as you would your favorite cotton shirt: Treat any stains immediately and wash your Tote2Go! in cold water (especially the brightly colored ones). Instead of using your dryer, why not hang them to dry in the sunshine? It’s much kinder on the environment and the sunshine will clear any odors away naturally!
Q: Why should I buy your bags when I can buy a bag at my local grocery store for .99 cents?
A: We highly encourage the use of reusable bags whenever possible! If you find your local store’s bags to be convenient to use, then by all means—please do so! We just think our Tote2Go! tote bags are easy to use, portable and a LOT cuter! However, our overall goal is to encourage people to reduce, reuse and recycle whenever and however they can!
Q: I love my Tote2Go! but strangers keep saying, “Nice Bags!” to me? Should I be offended?
A: You should be proud of yourself for choosing to purchase a terrific looking product that is made sustainably in the USA by a woman-owned small buisiness! Be prepared for kind comments like this from now on, my fashion-conscious, eco-friendly friend!
Our advice: Confidently turn around and say, “Thanks! It’s a Tote2Go!” with a wink and a smile

But Seriously folks: The bags available at most grocery stores are made of non-woven polypropylene (a plastic) and, while it is #5 recyclable and has a lifespan of about 2-3 years, it is still a plastic and if it hits a landfill, will take along time (450 years?) to degrade. Other reusable grocery bag choices out there are made of nylon—another non-organic material that will take countless centuries to degrade (if at all!). These choices only delay the inevitable problem of too much waste by 5 to 10 years!
We purposely use reclaimed 100% cotton fabrics as much as possible. In our research, cotton takes about 5 months to 1 year to degrade once discarded. This one of the many reasons we love using cast-off fabrics and encourage our users to reuse their Tote2Go! fabric bags later on as well in craft projects, quilts, smaller pouches and bags – anything to extend the usefulness of the fabric itself!
